    USB problems

    Hi guys,

I'm having some trouble with my 6 in 1 USB card reader. I have an ASUS p5n 32 Sli SE Delux board and all my usb ports seem to work fine. But I also have an Akasa fan speed controller/6 in 1 USB card reader that is hooked up to the internal usb jumpers. Trouble is that it's extremely temperamental. Somtimes I can see the drives in Windows (under my Computer) but quite often they disappear and nothing I do will bring them back. I've tried going into the BIOS a bit and doing things like disabling and then reenabling the USB ports but still no luck. I just don't understand why they come and go. On more than one occasion I've even opened up the computer and unplugged and plugged the internal lead onto the jumpers. But I'd rather not keep on having to do that.

    Any ideas?

It may be a problem with windows trying to re-asign drive letters that are already taken each time you re-boot. Try going into control panel>admin tools>computer management>storage & assigning a drive letter to each of the 6 usb drives that you know will not be taken, say u-z
