Well..... The 250gb is making the same clunking noise now!! I put it down to heat at first since it was rather hot inside my tightly packed Shuttle. I removed the HD from the Shuttle and it's sat ontop of the DVD drive for the past day with an 80mm fan blowing onto it. The clunking noises appeared to go away... but i've just came in and my system was running like a dog. The HD was clunking! When i say clunking.... its as if the drive resets itself and boots itself back up. Once its settled down I can continue to do whatever i'm doing in windows.
The question is.... Should I RMA this drive back to Maxtor? Bear in mind it costs me £9-£10 ish each time i send a HD back to them which is taking the biscuit....
