apart from video cards, is there anything else using DDR3 at the moment.
I've just noticed that scan are selling it in 2x1GB packs.

It is Inevitable.....
There are motherboards out..the P5K3 being one of them.
is there a limit ont he cpu's that can use them ?

How do you mean?
As long as the mobo can handle it then any CPU that fits on the mobo too will be able to use it. It's the motherboard that has the memory controller on it. However I personally wouldn't bother with DDR3 for a good while yet. Performance gains from anything above DDR2 800Mhz is pretty minimal and with a substantial price premium.
Firstly, the motherboard needs to have the physical slots for DDR3.
Then, it depends on where the memory controller is located. On AMD based systems, this is on the CPU, so it's down to this as to whether DDR3 is supported (it isn't at the moment).
However, on the Intel side, the memory controller is chipset-based, and, with the arrival of the P35 chipset, DDR3 is now supported.
Not a bad summery thanks.
I'm not really interested in DDR3 I was just curious as I noticed it on scan.
