Are you going to buy now or wait for G0 stepping to appear?

With no data available on how the new RETAIL G0 steppings may overclock, and the distinct possibility that Intel may aggressively bin components for the faster Q6700, I'm wondering if it may not be prudent to buy now and get a known quantity in the B3 stepping.

Well I've got 25 days left till I get payed again (I think) so I dont think intel would have scrapped the Q6600 by then so I should be ok, personally I really dont care about the steppings I'll be happy with what I get.

I'm waiting for G0, as I'm on air and want 3.0 at least out of the chip, otherwise I'll just be loosing performance not gaining it, over my E4300.

Personally, I don't care. a Q6600 of any stepping should be a vast improvement!

I'm not sure if it's multi-threaded, but it certainly needs the power on the larger maps. I've been playing it and getting some lag on the big stuff.

I have just recieved my Q6600 from RL Supplies ( http://www.rlsupplies.co.uk/products....asp?id=228567 ).

A lot of people on this (and other) forums are talking about a G0 stepping. Does anyone actually have one of these processors and is the G0 stepping really all that relevant for a processor thats fast anyway?

I do not know how to tell what the steppings are on the one I have recieved but the markings on the processor are as follows:-

I am going to hold out, i know all quads run hot with O/C so i will get some decent W/C 1st............may go for qx6800 in the future. ( family in the US )

Ideally a G0 chip would be nicer for cooler running, but I wouldn't lose any sleep if I didn't get one.

I should (hopefully) get my Q6700 G0 this week, so will have a play over the weekend and post up some results.
