7600gt / 7900gs Power supply requirements?

Is there a thread or does anybody know of a good site that list the power requirements of the most common graphics chip sets? Trying to work out if my 450w rated power supply will support a 7600gt / 7900gs but every review i read only seems to talk about performance- any suggestions?

A google for "power supply calculator" will get you some idea, though there is some doubt as to how reliable their results are.

Yardstick though:
PCIe slot can provide 75W
6 pin power plug can provide 75W

so my 7900GT at home has one 6 pin connector, so takes between 75 and 150W.
A 7600GS without a 6 pin connector can't consume more than 75W.

running a Pentium D, 2gb memory, a couple of hard drives and a 7900GS on a 470w thermaltake PSU (and it's not one of the better thremaltake PSUs)

A good 450w PSU should be more than fine, but good does depend on the make

In addition to what DanceswithUnix has said - Its the amp's on each rail that are also important.
Cheap PSU's will have low amps on each rails, which is where the issue lies

Amps = watts / Voltage
So a card that can consume 150watts can pull a maximum of 12.5 amps

Well said,

Both the 7900 gs and the 7600 gt are not too demanding and both are very good cards. (The 7900 gs is better and can be bought nowadays for about £75).

Anyhow my brother recently bought this card, and he has an Orion 420watt with only 17amps on the 12volt rail, and out of some miracle it runs perfectly. Dont ask me how, I was 99% sure that his psu would not be able to hack it, but it does.
