    Built my quad core..sort of

Just finishing building a quad core machine.. albeit with an organ transplant in the shape of a PSU from my main machine.

Just a word of warning.. I really wouldn't suggest getting a psu for the antec p182 that isn't modular.. what a nightmare..i havn't dare trying close it up as the extra cables are just everywhere.

That said apart from it not booting with all 4gb of ram (currently running two just to get vista installed) its gone ok.

Bios showed the cpu running at 30 degrees with the scythe ninja.

I think the older psu's (have less cables) are ok (as long as the cables are long enough) - I've used a Seasonic Tornado and an Enermax Noisetaker without issue.

    Any pics of the setup?

Ahh the dreaded FSP/OCZ cables. They end up like a rats nest going everywhere. At least they will be long enough

Nice temps though with the Ninja, I presume thats with the side off?

Everest shows core temps between 33 - 36 idle with the side off but a very hot room so take that as you will. It's plenty Good enough for this pc since it wont be overclocked and theres room there for overclocking im sure.

I really cant wait to build mine! Ordered everything yesterday from eBuyer and the processor from Scan and typical, its all turned up except the processor...so i've got a pc sat here thats good for nothing. And to make it worse, Scan told me they'd upgrade me to next day delivery for free which was decent. Thats not happened. So it's meant to be delivered tomorrow as they didnt deliver today - checked my email and nup, still not dispatched so looks like I wont get it til next week!! SORT IT OUT Scan

    Very unimpressed I must say

They well known for this kind of thing then? To be honest i was expecting eBuyer to mess up! I've spent probably over £10000 with them in the past few years (which aint bad considering i'm 23 and am not a business customer!) and they still always failed to deliver (pun intended ). I thought Scan were quite good, guess not...

Scan are good don't get me wrong.

But at the moment they are having few hiccups at the moment due to a lot of business I think and having a transition over to a bigger warehouse which is all documented here.

It does drive me mad when I have to wait for near a week (5 days) for something to be delivered but its out of our control.

Well just finished mine, what a sweat. I had to rejig the LianLi A10 case as I decided to put a Tuniq Tower in. That meant taking out the top blower fan plus finding new path ways for the wiring. Still dosent look neat but the cables dont interfere with the air flow.. I also put a 120 mm Noctua fan to blow over the ram and provide additional air for the Tuniq.

Temps, note using AC MX1 so I expect temps to drop over next couple of weeks.

CoreTemp shows 32 to 35, I think I need to tweak the screws a little on the Tuniq to balance an even pressure. This is with the case closed.

Abit uGuru shows 24 deg, take that with a pinch of salt, but as I had and AC Pro 7 with an E6600 before and that was showing 31 deg average. This Tuniq is a bloody marvel

Bear in mind as with staffsmike the Abit boards give a small overclock to 272 mhz.
So I think both of us neednt worry to much about having B3 steppings.

I'll give it a few days to settle then start OCing to see what I can get.
    Space in my skull

If the person its for doesn't collect it this week i.e the PSU hasn't come i'll see how it runs at around 3GHz if it will get there. As far as stepping goes I agree with Drat.. the temps are fine on the B3.. It's about 10 degrees higher than the ninja on my e6600 @ stock but thats no big deal.

Thats the same excuse they have been using for around 6 MONTHS now.

Don't get me wrong, if something breaks I am normally happier if I bought the item from scan.....but if you need something next day, then scan really should be one of the last places to try.

I have a Seasonic S12 650 Energy + in my Antec P180 (I considered the moduler PSU, but decided against it) and must say that it took a bit of time and effort, but I do have all the cables nicely tucked away.
Try to make each and every day the best it can be.
