New p5k deluxe system keeps hanging in bios

Im just building my new pc at the moment and it's being a real pain at the moment. Thing is when I turn it on theres a pretty 50/50 chance that itll even turn on as a lot of the time it makes on short beep then turns off again without POSTing or anything.

If it does go past that on such lucky occasions, i've left it at the hardware monitor screen to just check temperatures and it'll just hang after a few minutes.

I've touched the 8800GTX indidentally and it's Very hot to the touch. Is this normal?

What could be the problem?

Sounds suspiciously like a dead or dying stick of RAM.

Memtest, test 5, on one stick at a time, in all of the slots for at least an hour each.

It's brand new Crucial Ballistix! :(

Also, whenever I shut down the pc, it makes the same short beep - not even got around to installing an OS yet. Is it meant to 'beep' when I shut down?

Doesnt matter if its new, do the memtest 5 and that will rule that out :)
