    Spec Check?

    Hey,

I'm needing to build a new PC (the first one that I will have built myself), it'll be used for gaming/game development. I don't know much about hardware specifics though so if anyone could give any opinions before I buy the wrong thing that would be great...

At the moment in "the basket/list" I have:

    Intel Q6600 - G0 Stepping
Asus P5K Deluxe WiFI Intel P35
    8800GTX 768MB DDR3 OEM
    Antec P182
    Corsair HX 520W
    Western Digital 500GB WD5000AAKS 7200RPM 16MB - *x2*
    OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) 800MHz PC6400 Gold - *x2*
Noctua NH-U12F CPU Heatpipe Heatsink & Fan

    hxxp://img54.imageshack.us/img54/5126/specqf0.gif (Complete Shopping Basket Image)

Just something to note, I'm hoping for it to be as quiet as possible, that's why I went with the WD AAKS over the Seagate 7200.10 everybody usually recommends.

Also, if I find the stock case fans in the Antec P182 too noisy can I easily swap them out later with quieter (noctua?) ones, or would it be easier to do that from the start while building? Same with the 8800 GTX, easier to fit a HR-03 before/after?

Lastly after a few months I hope to be able to easily overclock the Q6600 to ~3GHz+ have I selected any components that would stop me being able to do so? Would I be better off getting the HX 620W for this or is 520 enough?

Sorry if any of those questions sound stupid, hopefully my first build will still go well though.

    Thanks!

Oh, also the monitor will be a 2407WFP-HC if that matters.

just me, but nonetheless good spec, id get ballistix, there about £80 for pc2-8500? superb ram (not that i have it)
id get a thermalright exteeme 120, best heatsink out now suppoesdly

im sure hexus members can get £5 shipping? do a search on hexus for the thread

good mobo, allows good overclocking, have a read of clunks guide

samsungs are also quiet, the hd501LJ model, is about £60, i have one and its quiet and a good model.

how much difference in price is the 620 and 520? as perhaps if you get the 620w, you might not have to upgrade the PSU in say, a years or so time for the next upgrade if needs be.

most are my own choices choices but its a good rig anyways

Thanks for the replies, that Thermalright 120 Ultra has decent reviews so I'll probably change to that... and the Samsung HDs since they're supposedly the quietest.

The 620W is £30-35 more than the 520W so I'm still slightly unsure.

Can't see the £5 offer anyway but nevermind,

    Thanks again!

Well the thermalright 120 ultra *was* the best a couple of months ago, but there seem to have been loads of coolers out since thoes reviews and so many of the newest are not on thoes reviews.
However I doubt many are going to beet the thermalright 120 ultra by a large amount so it's still a very good choise.

Also supossed to be very good.

You need to get a seperate 120mm fan to go with ether of the thermalright coolers, the SI-128 has the advantage that the fan blows down through the heatsink and onto the mother board which most of the tower designs don't
