    Re: New Gaming Pc Spec

What with the G0 stepping of the 6600's am still finalising the spec for a new build and am contemplating ditching a dual core and going for the quad, and overclocking it to 3-3.4Ghz area.

Anyone had any success with this without things dying?

ill probably downgrade to the 320MB GFX card to save a little money to spend elsewhere :-)

    What suppliers do people use?

the 6750 will hit 3.4 easily with minimum effort (just adjusting the fsb will do) and pc6400 will do the job and still sits nice and cool. mine is sat at 3.3 just for the hell of it.

can vouch for the 8800gts 320's, i have the bfg 320 oc version and not got one complaint with it.

as for the hsf, take a look at the thermalright ultra's, have got the 120 and with a couple of decent fans in push/pull will keep the chip nice and cool....not that these G0's need any help in that department.

    Re: New Gaming Pc Spec

It appears that DX10 games may need 512Mb+. Therefore everyone's favorite card (8800GTS 320Mb) could turn out to be less of a bargain in the longer run...

    Thermalright Ultima 90 FTW.

Most of the decent memory will OC fine, so I'm not sure that the 8500 is necessary. OTOH if you do go Vista64, I'd get 4Gb.
