    Gigabyte P35-DQ6 and Thermalright Ultra-120

Is anyone using this combo of motherboard and cooler? I'm a bit concerned about the cooler fitting, what with all that copper heatsink gubbins. Is the Crazy Cool backplate fairly straightforward to remove or am I setting myself up for a world of pain?

I've contemplated that combination, then figured if I did go for it I'd take any foreseeable pain out of the equation by using a Scythe Mine. "Tool Free Easy Installation" according to this and Blitzen.

Thermalright say it fits that board - I emailed them to check as I'm going for that combo. It is also listed as compatible on their website.

The backplate is fairly easy to remove and there are detailed instructions in the motherboard manual showing how to do it. If you're unsure, download the manual from Gigabyte's website first and take a look

Ah well, I'll give it a go. I already bought all the kit anyway. If it's too much fuss though I'll contemplate swapping to the Mine.

Yep - you could easily sell the thermalright for a decent price second hand.
