How many of you have the PC on the desk? Is it noisey?
I have a pc on my desk downstairs, however its got some feet on it. I get hardly any vibrations through it as the desk is very sturdy.
I would say if the desk is sturdy and flat you shouldnt experience too much noise :)
Mines under the desk on a rollable trolley, but likely moving to the desk when I rebuild this weekend.
That said, noisey is subjective, mines pretty silent, but I can hear it at this time of night when the missus is asleep and the TV is off.
Usually when a comp is on the desk the higher frequency whine comes through rather than the low freq buzzing but the noise will be about the same... utter specualtion to be fair it depends whats in your computer
I keep mine on the floor, keeps the desk looking tidy and clean
Having a Shuttle means it naturally is best on the desk but even when I've had full towers I always kept them on the desk. I find that the foot traffic kicks more dust into the rig when it's on the deck so less time between dusting sessions up on the desk.
I do at work, and no. It's completely silent. Air con is much louder.
Get a Dell desktop, those things are really really quiet :)
Have them on the desk at work without any noise at all
I have mine on the desk, it's no louder than it would be if i kept it on the floor.
I have mine on the desk. It's easier to access the drives, it has better airflow around the case and I don't end up kicking it unlike if it was on the floor. I don't get any vibration - well not that I notice - but obviously the fans will be closer to the ear.
After our office flooded t'other week we decided it would be safer to keep our CAD PC's on our desks.
Its right next to me and I cant say I notice any difference, its still quiet.
I have my tower on the chest of drawers next to my desk, i hear a bit more fan noise as i have to have the back of the case facing me so my keyboard wires can reach! so it is a little noisier as the fans are at ear level.
What about hard drive noise?
Used to have mine on the desk but its now next to the desk, its just far more logical - for my situation anyway. Although there's a window that I only get to see half of now :,<
