Question Convert 3pin fan to 4pin

I have a Zalman digital fan controller. It supports 3 x 3pin fans and 1 x 4pin PWM fan. All my fans are 3 pin.

I need a simple 3pin to 4pin fan converter cable so I can plug my fan into the 4pin header but cant seem to find one.

I bascially need a cable with a 3pin fan socket on one end and a 4pin fan plug on the other.

Anyone know where I can get one?

    Thanks.

Have you tried just plugging in a 3pin fan?/
See 3-Pin and 4-Pin Fan Connectors
Note: when using a 3-pin power connector with a 4-pin fan header, the fan will always be on; there is no fan control.
It may be that your fan control just dictates the power feed to the fan, probably worth trying.

You can plug 3pin fans into 4pin motherboard headers as the tab will be the same as for a 3pin.

It wont work on this though because of the tab is wider so will only accept a 4pin fan.

I just broke the tab off the 4pin extension cable so I can plug in a 3pin fan and tried it. Fan works but I cant adjust the speed so its no good.

Will have to get a 4pin fan.
