Feeling like a lil kid between all the topics about building gaming rigs and whatnot
Anyways, Im on an AGP mobo and I need a better PSU. Is there anything specific I have to look at while shopping for one?
Thanks,

Depends really, whats your current(or old) PSU?, and what do you have in your system?
Its a 300W (yes I know :P) PSU, mobo is Asus A7V333, Geforce 4 MX440 (planning on upgrading it to a 7series), 512MB RAM (PC2700) (gonna order 1Gb tomorrow). Need to know anything else?
Hi
How much are you willing to spend on a new psu?
Around 100EUR, can go up to 120 if its necessary
Something like a Corsair 520W would be plenty for that system and easily be in your €100 budget, and also gives you a quite a bit of room if you decide to upgrade to more powerful parts at a later date, although even anything above 400W is most likely more than enough.
The Corsair 520watt is a very good choice. Its easily in your budget at about £70. If not then try to get psu from a reputable company such as OCZ, Seasonic, Hiper, Coolermaster, Antec, Tagan etc
Well said.
There was another thread on this recently - Just because someone is willing to spend that much don't mean they must.
It also leaves more money for next time around, should you need to upgrade it again (by which time, PSU's will probably have another 42pins and 6 new acronyms to go with them)
I was going to suggest the Enermax Galaxy 1k, but I dont think I'll bother now :D
Thanks, I was looking at that aswell
330W might be enough for now, but I am planning on upgrading my system here and there, and Im pretty sure a 330W wouldnt give enough power
And thanks everyone for replying :)
There's is the new 450W Corsair around the £50 mark, seems more in line with the specification mentioned and great quality.
You dont even know the fellas system specs.
If that was a reference for me IIRC it was a much meatier sytem.
It was more of a case in the other thread of get what you can for your budget.....there isnt anything wrong with that if the system warrants it.
Blitzen, when I wrote the above I admit I did not know his system specs, so I just recommended a good quality psu within his budget. I could have suggested a OCZ GameXStream 700W PSU, which also falls within his budget but that would most likely be definitely OTT.
Setting a budget marks the range you don't want to go over, no point paying twice as much for something you don't need when you can get a product that does what you require for half your budget.
Hi, me again :P
Got a new question, and seeing how this thread is still semi-alive I dont see any reasons making a new topic. No PSU question this time though..
Just bought 1Gb RAM (PC2700) And when trying to get it in its socket it appears too be too big. I can get the end in the socket (though not completely) and the middle of the stick doesnt seem to be able to get in the socket. (Yes I am trying to get it in the right way). Could it be too long? :S

You have brought the right type of DDR RAM, haven't you? :)
According to a Hexus review my mobo supports PC2700, which I bought. And I dont think there are DDR2 sticks of PC2700? :P
Edit: seeing how a DDR2 stick wouldnt fit in at all, Its a DDR1 stick, thats for sure
Edit2: The new stick and the old one thats currently in place are both the same in length, just checked :)
You're right on the PC2700 thing - Always worth checking though :)
If you say its the middle which wont go in, the only thing I can think of is checking that its in the right way, but you said you'd checked this.
Im stumped...:)
Yeah me too...
And I think Ive been putting too much force on it cause my mobo seems to be dead. No Bios, no nothing :help:
Im in trouble I think, I work with that machine and without it I can go quit the job >.>
Shiiiiiit..
Edit: Ok... gonna be either a HDD, graphics card OR monitor failure, and I dont have any extra monitors to test it with except for this one. (Dont think my mom likes it if I use her stuff =P)
