Intel CPU Fan Not Starting Straight Away

Got the standard cooler/fan that comes with the Q6600 attached at the moment but I have noticed that it doesn't start as soon as you turn the machine on, it takes a few seconds up to 5 maybe before it starts going. Is this normal or should I start to panic?

It's normal. Have a look in the BIOS and you'll see a feature called something like Smart Fan (on Gigabyte boards, anyway), which tries to keep noise to a minimum by only starting the fan when it's needed. If you want to check disable this and restart and it should spin up immediately.
