    Laptop screen repair

I have an Acer Aspire 1670WLMi laptop with a broken screen :-( . The laptop has since been replaced and an insurance claim put in for it to be repaired or replaced. The insurance company have come back and said they want a quote for it to be repaired.

Any ideas where I can get a quote for the repair from? What about buying a screen (where from?) and doing the job myself? How tricky would it be - I remember reading an article in PC Pro a few months back suggesting that it's fiddly but possible. I guess it's really unviable for an old(ish) laptop (Pentium 4 3.06Ghz) but I need a quote for the insurance company.

    Thanks in advance!

These sites may be able to give you an idea of costs, http://www.screen-repair.co.uk/ http://www.laptopbits.co.uk/repairs.htm the last one will do an Insurance Report (includes return carriage) £35+VAT.

If you decide to try for yourself, most advice has been to buy a 2nd hand LT from ebay (or other auction site) and hope the screen is a good replacement.

ring the laptop maker, and ask how much it would cost to have them as the maker replace it.
    It is Inevitable.....

Thanks for the info. Will take it from there and see what the insurance company say.
