GA-P35-DS3R overvoltage control?

i am trying to overclock my cpu E6750 but everytime i turn the fsb up alittle the ram voltage fails in the bios status screen i have found some voltage options ddr2/ddr3 overvoltage control, you can up it by +0.1 - +0.7 but it doesnt say what its already at?

so im not sure what to up it by? one notch at a time till i get it stable? but im afraid to go past recommended max V on my ram geil ultra 2gb and without knowing what voltage its on im afraid i might... anyone know how i can find out?

also the box my cpu came in states max V as 1.35 does this mean its not a good idea to go past 1.35V on the vcore?

just incase anyone would like to further help me overclock my E6750 on the GA-P35-DS3R

i have my ram at 1:1 and am now ready to up the fsb but before i do i want the voltages to be correct/stable the Voltage options on the bios that i am not fully sure of are as follows:


DDR2/DDR3 overvoltage control
Normal
+0.1-+0.7

FSB overvoltage control
Normal
or
+0.1-+0.3

(G)MCH overvoltage control
Normal
+0.1-+0.3

cpu Vcore is set to 1.35 atm


also i would like to know if anyone knows what the normal the bios is refering to is?

I would guess that as far as the RAM voltage at least "normal" refers to the JEDEC spec. value. e.g. 1.8V for DDR2.
So if you want e.g. 2.0V to your RAM you have to select +0.2V (1.8V +0.02V=2.0V)

That's the annoying thing about these Gigabyte boards, it just says "OK" in the bios rather than giving you an actual reading.

Like BUFF says, the default voltage of ddr2 is 1.8v, so you just add +0.X volts to that.

also the box my cpu came in states max V as 1.35 does this mean its not a good idea to go past 1.35V on the vcore?

I remember reading a link to the intel site that mentioned the recommended maximum for these chips is 1.55v, I'd guess that's more likely to do with varying voltages on motherboards than anything. I personally wouldn't go higher than that, go by the reading of it though rather than setting at 1.55v.

That just means it's currently at stock.

thanks for the advice, i have managed to to get my fsb from 333 to 400 with ram voltage OK on bios by increasing the ram over voltage by +1 so i take it that is ok for now? or should i take it higher? also my temp is stable at around30 idle and 50 with 53 max on load clocked to 3.2ghz and with a ram divider of 1:1 my ram is at 400 in cpu-z

if you go to the system properties of vista it says the cpu model and the clock speeds @ 2.66 3.2ghz

why is there 2 readings did i just overclock one core and not the other or somthing?

One with 2.66 describes the CPU (it's stock is 2.66 I suppose), and the other shows the current clock speed, which is the overclocked 3.2. I think it's impossible to OC only one core
