    Case

Ok this cavalier is starting to get on my nerves. I have tried everything and im still not happy with the cooling abilities this case has to offer.

ATM im pretty skint but i have a job lined up and i dont think the prices of cases change about all that frequently so hoping to get something to aim for.

Dont really want to spend more than £60 (if i did i would probs go with the antec p182)

No fancy lights, massive non-interchangable fans or ugly chav-mobile like designs, just a simple, subtle, straight forward case that can promise me some decent well thought out cooling performance.

    Cheers guys

p.s. preferably black or black & silver

Ahhh go on get a Xclio Propeller it's only £35

After reading a review of that CM cavalier, as it's only air in comes from a single 80mm grill with fan at the front, that draws in air from the bottom of the front pannel.
If you stand it on a carpeted floor, you might be having problems with the carpet blockking the hole at the bottom. If this is the situation get a chunk of wood slightly larger than the footprint on the PC and nice and strong, then stand the PC on that.

Have you got the window version or the vented side pannel version?
Just asking as if you have the side pannel version, you could remove it and replace it with a large sheet of mesh that should let plenty of air in.

If you've got an electric drill you could start drilling holes in the side pannels or if you've got a jig saw or drimmel you could cut some holes for more fans
An 80mm front fan should be fine for a couple of hard drives, but looking at your spec's it probably the 8800 that's pumping out a lot of heat.
Cutting a hole for a 120mm fan is fairly easy (a 120mm fan grill will cost a quid or two) Good places for additional input fans are, the bottom left of the side pannel or alternatively if your case is on a hard surface with feet, then you can cut a hole in the bottom of the case.

If you can strech your budget or shop around then you can pick up an antec 900 for £60-75ish

    Re: Case

I'd agree with the antec 900 apart from it having the blue led lights its has the same if not better fan arrangements than the p182. Deffinatly worth £60 which they can often be found for.

    Re: Case

Looking at the middle of your budget - about £30ish, the Antec SLK3000B is very good IMO.

I've built a couple of systems and think it's one of the better ones.

Towards £60 I think the Antec Solo may be a good investment?

Its already lifted from the floor & i drilled holes on the front to allow it to pull air from directly infront anyway. Plus the floor is wooden.

Its the vented version, i dont really like open side windows

Yeah it is the 8800 thats really killing it & i may go for the power drill option but its only a temp fix really because im fairly set on a new case
