I recently upgraded my HTPC and had forgotten about the whole 20 pin --> 24 pin change a while back. Is it worth swapping out the PSU or buying a cheap converter? My new mobo works with my old 20 pin PSU and is rock solid at default clocks but won't overclock well at all (not that I need to overclock my HTPC but hey, old habits die hard). I know that the mobo in question (P5B-VM) doesn't overclock well (supposed 300MHz FSB wall) but I struggle to keep it stable @ 250MHz and it won't post @ 266 at all regardless of any voltage or other BIOS changes. I doubt it's the chip (E2140) or the cooling (the cores stay < 40c at full load if you believe speed fan, < 55c if you believe the latest version of core temp) and it could well just be a crap board / BIOS... So... Is a new PSU / adapter worth a try or shall I just shut up and put up?
