This time it's for work, it'll be used just for graphic design, web development and will be host to a local testing web server (apache).
I went for a Q6600 for my own personal machine and am impressed so far but am open to ideas. The main pre-requisites is it must be quiet, water cooling isn't an option, needs to be in a very sensible case (will be on a desk in an office), and needs to support 3 monitors so will need 2 graphics cards (doesn't need to be SLI as games wont be played on it).
I usually have the following apps open at all times throughout the day:
photoshop cs 2
dreamweaver
firefox (around 12 tabs open)
ie 6 (3 instances roughly)
ftp client
flash
outlook
apache
So memory will be hogged consistently as i'll be working with 300dpi images over local and networked drives.
What do you guys reckon? Price isn't much of an issue, and I dont need new monitors and input devices as I already have them.
Cheers![]()
