Microphone - Which one

Hi all me and my family do a lot of voice chatting and i'm after a decent high quality microphone, something with some sort of noise canellation to stop hissing and also feedback, as many people talk at once, headphones are not an option, can anyone recommend one or suggest one they may have seen, all i can find are the 1 pound cheepo jobs on sites like dabs.

Is it just for voice?

I wouldn't have thought quality would be greatly needed if its going over an encoded signal over the internet. Ive heard friends use various mics and there no better than a proper instrumental Mic I use!

If you want something good (Home Studio quality), try maplins as they do quite a range!

A good microphone is not cheap.

Sounds like a good option for you would be the switchable version of the Shure SM58 and a small desk top microphone stand. Around £120.00 for both items.

And you'll need to fit a 3.5mm jack plug to go into sound card or use an adapter.

The SM58 can be hand held as well, and is perfect for film editing/talkovers.

Available from Canford Audio and many, many suppliers, as it's a very popular Mic.

Although an SM58 would do the job, its probably overkill for voice chat. take a kook at the sony range of mics designed fro recording to minidisc - they range from about £30 upwards and have minijacks on as standard.
