Safe Temperature for hard drive
I run a 150Gb Raptor in a Sycthe Quiet Box (see more in system on lhs) and use DTemp ocassionally to check temperatures. Today the hard drive temp went up to 41c today and although back to 39c now I was a little concerned initially. Asus AI Booster reports CPU temp at 30c and system temp at 29c so no worries there.
What would be a safe operating temperature for a Raptor hard drive?
Re: Safe Temperature for hard drive
Without knowing the precise model number, it is difficult to say, but this link
http://www.wdc.com/en/products/produ...eID=244#jump77
for a WD SATA drive listed an operating temperature range of 5C to 55C so I imagine yours would be similar. Using that link should give ypou a start to finding your own drive for precise information.
Manufacturers web sites are usually the best source for this type of idetail.

I run a pair of Raptor X 150Gb in SilentMaxx enclosures (http://www.silentmaxx.de/index.php?id=9&ftu=ea44003953)
My temps for both drives usually sit aroun 40 or so but can go up to 48-50 without causing any problems at all and I've been runing drives in these enclosures for years.
My live temps (ignore any voltage refs, I haven't re-jigged them since last webtemp re-install):

I wouldnt worry until you start getting up towards 60c+. My drives sit between 40-55c
