    System Upgrade

I'm looking to upgrade my current system and I've sort of settled on the following but I'd like some memory suggestions. Any other suggestions would be welcome as well.

Gfx card is already bought, an xfx 8800 gtx, which is what started me on this slippery slope.

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600, Socket 775, 2.4 GHz, 1066MHz FSB, Conroe Core, 4MB Cache

MBoard: Gigabyte GA P35C-DS3R, iP35 Express

PSU: 620W Corsair HX Series Modular SLi PSU, ATX, EPS 12V, whisper quiet

    Re: System Upgrade

    Well, I think I'm going to plump for the, G.Skill 2GB DDR2 HZ PC2-6400.

They seem to get a good write up from what I can see.

    Any thoughts?

    Re: System Upgrade

Do you plan to overclock? If you don't, you may want to change the CPU to E6750 (which would still overclock quite well). It's the same price as the 6600, but is clocked at 2.66GHz verses 6600's 2.4 GHz.

Also I'm not sure about the DDR2 and DDR3 combo motherboard, I think it's just not worth bothering. Simply get a normal DDR2 board, like Asus P5K-E, Gigabyte P35-DS3(R)/DS4, or abit IP35 Pro.

    Re: System Upgrade

Thanks Queelis. I saw that the 6750 is actually a bit cheaper than the 6600 some places.

But I know I'll end up trying to squeeze as much as I can out of whatever I get so I think the 6600 is the one.

As for the board, I think you're right. Didn't notice it was a DDR2/DDR3 mix.
