    Cool The new project: Endeavour

Well I managed to get all the bits together today, so here she is. Not got time to install Windows on it yet but it's looking good so far. The bit of WinXP install before it loads the 'proper gui' was lightning fast

    £1200 of kit

Very well organised inside, nice and tidy

Had to put the SATA drivers onto a floppy AND hook up an FDD before starting WinXP install

Purdy, but desperately needs a black drive fascia!

    More pics here.

    Happy times
    Simon

    Specs...

    Shuttle SN85G4
    Athlon 64 3200+
    2x 512mb Corsair XMS3200
    Samsung SP 160gb
    Sony 8x DVD-+RW
    ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (128mb)
    Nebula DigiTV card
    Creative Audigy 2 NX

As for sound... I haven't really had enough time to say for certain. However, the ICE fan on full speed is quite loud. When it's throttled down to its slowest setting it's fairly inaudible. The loudest part I think is the Radeon. Are there any ATI Windows tools to throttle the fan for 2D?

Also, the latest FN85 bios includes Cool'n'Quiet support which cuts the CPU MHz when you're not using it. And, contary to review comments, you can adjust all the memory timings (although I know nothing about how to get a good setup!).

More news on the sound issue later/tomorrow
    Simon
