Limksys NSLU2 - about £65 from Amazon, plus the cost of a hard drive. Not outstanding performance but OK. Has the added advantage that it can be hacked into a server - I use one to stream MP3 on the house network.

If you want to hack it, look here

but if you just want a plain NAS, don't bother
i've got an N5200, but it might be slightly outside your budget ;)
what about an N1 series?
ebuyer has the NSLU2 for £54

Huge potential using this, but just takes time to setup.
Just checked Amazon - £60 and free p&p ! Who would you trust more if you had to return it though? :) Personally I'd stay with Amazon - but then it's buyers choice!
However, with a 2.5" hard drive and an enclosure, it is within the £100 budget. Setting up isn't that difficult on the basic device. Really just a question of setting up user accounts (if you want them. If it is a general access NAS deevice that all can use, it is very straightforward.
I dont think i would need user accounts!! So if i got one of those and a hard disk...i would just need to connect it to my router wouldnt I?
Pretty much. You could use a 2.5" disk in an enclosure which would power through the USB port, or a 3.5" disk in an enclosure which usually has an external psu. Either way it doesn't matter. You can connect two disks to it as it has two USB2 ports.
Then the ethernet port goes to the router, and with a bit ofconfiguration through the built in web interface, it is good to go. It just appears in My network places.
Sounds easy peasy! :D
I might well get one! Any recommendations on the HDD? I think i would want a 3.5" one...dont know why! lol
Thanks :D
What are you going to use the NAS for? If it's for holding pictures or data then fine. If it's for streaming music or video then for £100 forget it
Just one of the computers in my house is annoying and crashes loads! Have had to format it loads! and have to keep saving all important stuff i dont want to lose on cd...so i thought it would be easier to get one a NAS!! You agree? lol :D
For holding data they are fine. The cheap ones are just way too slow for streaming music or video

or this would do the job with a 320GB drive already installed
or these without the hard drives
