Using a 1:2 divider (CPU:DRAM)

Hello,

To get my RAM working at 1066, I had to increase the voltage to 2.2V, and the divider I had to change to 1:2.

Is this stable? Will I have any problems with this? I have heard anything other than 1:1 can achieve major instability?

Also, when I do this, I do not get the RAM working at 1066, but at 1088.

Where did you hear about different ratios causing instability?

By itself it doesn't, only if the motherboard is a bit poo would it do so (and it's just as like to be unstable on 1:1, just depends how it is set up).

But I have to ask, why do you want your ram to run at 1066?

What is your RAM rated to run at? If it is 2.2v and 1066 then yes it will be fine.

What FSB are you using?

You can test RAM stability with memtest/orthos/prime95 but if it is within the rated specs it should be fine.

I'd also echo Kalniel, why do you want your RAM to run at 1066?

I'm using a 9x multiplier, and a 272 FSB. I want my RAM to run at 1066, because that is what it is rated to run at, it is a 1066 2GB Dominator series Corsair pair.

Would running it at 1088 be acceptable?

I heard the divider instability thing on the net somewhere. Apparently, the best setting is a 1:1 setting.

I can get it running at 1065.6 on a 1:1.2 setting, but only by overclocking it to above 2.6GHZ on a 6x multiplier with an FSB of 444.

272 CPU clock, at 1:2 ratio means ram runs at 544mhz, which is DDR speed 1088.
