MEsh or Evesham

Hello,

I have selected two computers from separate companies - Mesh and Evesham. I am considering buying either or but am finding it hard to decide!

Here are the Specs:

Meshcomputers have stated "they are likely to reduce price's in the third week of JAN" - this may influence my decision

I would go for the one with the 18" TFT (the mesh) - both computers look like they are very good spec, and decent enough price. Plus with the MESH you get more hard drive space.

wouldn't you get that all cheaper if you we're to build it yourself??

my sister's bf brought a mesh and it was awfully set up, which in itself isn't hard, but is a pain.

I can't advise from personal experience, but I would go with the Evesham. They get good reviews with both PC Pro and Custom PC (yes I know, they're run by the same publishers!).

Plus, it has a better graphics card and display!

Firstly I do not condone you saying you have downloaded MS products, but something you should be aware of, with most companies, Mesh I know do this, if you replace the OS you lose your warranty, you could so build this system cheaper yourself and maybe get some nice extras too.

Well First as so often I ask, What are you using the machine for, This information will allow myself and other provide a better quality of advice. Personally I wouldn't ever buy a ready made PC myself, but if you don't feel the skills or time to do it, I wouldn't advise buying an expensive system like the ones you list.

You may feel like you are future proofing but believe me you are not. What you are infact doing is paying a lot of money for something that will generally never be upgradable.

Let us all know what you intend to do with the machine and i'll reply again once we've got a clear understanding of aims of the pc.

personally I feel there are faults with both packages - especially if you're looking for a gaming machine. That 9800SE might not softmod, in which case you're left with a mid range graphics card in a top end system. Same goes for the 5700 Ultra...only it can't softmod . The MESH system has a manky but houge TFT, personally I'd ask for it without monitor and use the discount to get your 17" of choice...but then I wouldn't buy that system anyway because of the 5700U...

Bottom line is this, I wouldn't pay that price for either system, because some of the parts are, I feel, poorly chosen...if forced to choose, however, I'd go for the Mesh system, seems to get you more for your money, especially if that 9800Se doesn't softmod. Still think there's a lot of imbalance though, sadly.

First all thanks for all the response

I will be using my PC for graphics and webdesign in particular

I also enjoy my games and DVD's etc

I have deeply considered buying my own components and composing my own PC - I have a good general understanding and will find no problems in doing so. So why not? The price suddenly shoots up! I have a max of about £1550, I'd like a mid - high end computer - building one myself (without skimping of components such as keyboard, mouse, speakers, soundcard and in particular monitor) it would cost more in the region of £1800 - judging from Ebay prices. Although this PC would ultimately be better - PSU, FANS, expandability etc - i do not believe it is worth the price increase.

If anyone can suggest a place where i can buy components at such a reduced price I would save £300 then I'd greatfully do so, but i doubt this is possible (btw i used www.ebuyer.com for my research).

ATM Mesh and Evesham seem the only logical companies to provide good mid - high range customisable PC's at a fair price (unless anyone can suggest otherwise?). I am satisfied with mid range cards - personally I believe games cannot utilise high range cards (only to the extent of a mid range card), and by the time they can the high range cards will be considered mid range and therefore half the price!

So what will it be, MESH or Evesham - or anyother suggestions?

I like the point on buying the MESH without the 18" monitor and buying a decent 17". Definately worth considering. Apart from this I'd generally lean towards the Evesham system, but am still entirely unsure: I will be buying within the next couple of weeks!

My friend bought an Evesham spec'ed with 9700pro and they gave him a 9700np and wouldnt exchange it.

not really...for ~£1600 , this is a system which is a helluva lot better...and I'm not even trying multiple retailers and a lot of this is from OCUK, so the prices aren't great.

Byatt's right there is a decent system available for that money, his system has some great stuff there, and The TFT rocks

I reckon you could get that lot down by at least £150 by shopping about too.

I've been on Overclockers UK and the AMD 64 3200 processor seems to be at £216 including delivery to mainland uk and VAT - did you do the prices inclusive at VAT?

What sites would you recommend I bought components from - I am going to work out a realistic price

Yeah, I think you haven't included VAT and delivery on your components (after a quick check) - with these the system would probably result at around £1800 (as i predicted!)

Komplett, Microdirect, Aria, CCL so many there is a master list in the Bargin Hunt forum with full web site addresses.

If you've got the technical savvy building it yourself is the only way forward
