    What's my old rig worth?

I think I'm finally going to upgrade and was just wondering what you guys thought my old rig was worth. I figure it's probably not worth splitting as it's a AGP system and I'll just sell it to a mate or something.

    Here's the spec:

    3Ghz Pentium 4 (Skt 478 Northwood) @ 3.5Ghz with Copper Zalman 7000 cooler
DFI Lanparty Pro875B (UV responsive etc)
360Gb (2 x Hitachi 160Gb Sata in Raid 0 - would probably change raid config. before sale)
    2Gb DDR PC3200 (2 x 515Mb Crucial Ballistix, 2 x 512 Crucial value)
256Mb X850XT Asustek AGP with VF700-Cu Zalman cooler
DVD and Plextor DVD writer (single layer)
    Audigy 2 ZS
Leadtek Winfast DTV 1000 T TV Card
    Floppy and Card reader
Powered by a 480W True blue PSU
All in an Antec P160 with viewing window

Despite it's age it's still a solid system and still plays games pretty well. Were it not for my gaming requirements at higher resolutions I'd probably keep hold of it. I'll shed a tear when it's gone.

So anyway, any thoughts on what it should go for? Cheers guys and gals!

Wow, speedy reply, thanks. I figured about that.

So my beautiful system will probably buy me a new graphics card...how painful ;-)

Re: What's my old rig worth?

I have a similar system and have been thinking hard about replacing it. However, mine is still stable and does pretty much everything I want with the exception of gaming eye candy. I'm tempted, really tempted like you to upgrade but am trying to resist the urge.

Not sure about what it's worth but I wouldn't want to sell mine for peanuts. I'd ask for at least £250

What are you looking at replacing your Northwood with?

I know, I paid £300+ for a simple A64 754 rig and ended up selling it for about £150 a while ago, the stuff depreciates quite quickly, especially with C2D/AM2 price drops

if you want to keep it why not turn it into a pvr/server? then you can sell the high end stuff like graphics and buy el cheapo alternatives and still make some money back from it

Re: What's my old rig worth?

I'd keep mine were it not for my recent purchase of a Dell 2407. The graphics card isn't quite up to the 1920 x 1200 resolution!

I haven't fully researched a new build yet, but I'm sure it'd centre around a Core2Duo of some description. Whichever one is the current bangs per buck I guess.

I'll prob sell my old system to my mum, whose current Athlon 2400 (my previous computer) is having a few issues now. So obviously I don't want to rip her off, just need to know what it's worth. After all, a boy's gotta live too! ;-)

Not a bad idea, but then I'd just be keeping hold of it for the sake of it because, if I'm honest, I don't really need a pvr or server. If I sell it to my mum at least I'd have visiting rights =)

I can only see the PCI-E on special today. I was thinking about an upgrade to x1950, but if my rig is only worth £150, is it worth spending roughly the same again for a graphics card for it? ;-)

£150-£220 if your lucky, older rigs really arent worth it for most people.
But if its your mate you might be able to hit the top parts

Can you replace the machine for that £150?
If not buy the GFX card.
