    C2D Socket on P35C-DS3R - Pressure Required?

    Hi All,

Got around to finally building today, just a quick query, it's been a while since I built a PC. Does the lever require quite a bit of force when the socket has the CPU in its slot. I don't want to damge the parts as it seems that a fair bit of force is required in locking the CPU in the socket with the lever, CPU seems to have sat down properly. It seems that it requires more force than I've used on any other builds, mainly AMD. It is however, a first Core2Duo build with the socket LGA775.

Sounds like a slight strain, creek when putting down the lever!

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Short answer is yes. Provided you have the correct orientation for the cpu then you get a slight crunch as the cpu mates with the socket.

Re: C2D Socket on P35C-DS3R - Pressure Required?

Yep as DratUK has said it does require a bit of pressure, so does the clips on the cooler, which you might find ends up bending the motherboard, it's all a little worrying but that seem to be the way it is.

At this rate the next socket design is going to require a pair of pliers and a hammer.

Thanks, I figured and got anxious waiting that I went ahead, installed, did feel the crunch as you stated, DratUK and Pob255.
