4200+ overclocking?

Just bought a 4200+ 939 dual core from scan. My old cpu was overcloked and I haven't reset the bios, just put it in, the temp is like 34 degrees but is this okay? Like the voltage and FSB speed?

If it's stable it's fine

Standard 20% overclock, same as your old one I guess.

Actually that's very impressive OC. You've undervolted vcore and still manage to pull out 2.6G. Mine can only do 2.6 at 1.45v or something like that. Very nice stepping you have there

I thought 1.3-1.35V was standard VCore?

Mine doesn't even post at 2.6G without feeding some extra voltage, so either way it's still good overclocker I guess

If it's stable then no point, if it's at all unstable then bumping the volts a fraction should cure it

That's a very good overclock for the voltage, run ORTHOS to make sure it's stable though.

Ahh weird! I have randomly made a good overclock! Your right nightshadowUK it was a 3700+ Have you been following me? Oh and it's a blue orb something cooler - nothing amazing. I'll run that orthos after I'm back from Reading Festival Whoop have a good weekend guys!

Don't judge voltage by cpu-z app. It's reporting wrong values for quite a long time. best thing anyway is multimeter. Still nice clocks for 939. but nothing spectacular in terms ov voltage/FSB
Some mobos can put more voltage through CPU if set to Auto.

CPU-Z doesnt report the correct voltage for my 4200+ either.

You should be able to push that chip more. My 4200+ does 2.6Ghz at stock volts then up to 3Ghz with a small voltage bump. 24/7 stable.

I would say that 3GHz on s939 is very rare and it takes really cherry picked processor to gain that speed. 2.6GHz is still good speed

I guess I was lucky then. Mines a Toldeo core, it booted straight in at 2.8Ghz when I first put it in the replace my Opteron 146. Then I just tweaked it to 3Ghz, that is as high as it'll go stab;e though. I can boot into windows a bit higher, but it ain't at all stable.
