short term graphics card upgrade?
Hi all,
I was thinking of upgrading my current graphics card which is a 7800GT to an X1950XT I currently have win xp and not going to get vista until December so I'm not sure if it is worth getting a GTX especially as the new revision for nvidia cards may be out in December.
With my current card I played the bioshock demo and it was jerky to say the least. I want to play at 1610 x1050 as I own a dell 2407 so short term X1950XT and sell it in December or do I just get a GTX now?
Thanks
Re: short term graphics card upgrade?
your best bet might be to go for the 8800gts 320mb. That should handle it quite nicely and support you well into December. Also, gives you the option to go dx10 a little earlier if you find you feel the need. It is a pricier option but can be had for some notes under £200 and will perform very well. Equally, if you want to try and save money, the 512mb version of the x1950pro may do you well, as higher resolution responds well to larger amounts of memory... All this said, the x1950xt is a pretty nice choice at the current price point and probably what i'd recommend from your description...can't really fault you there.

You have the 9800 coming in november time or so they say so either get the 8800GTX knowing that it is going to be out of date then or get a X1950XT then sell it then and get a 9800 when it comes out ?.
