    Question SN85G4 audio question

Is it as bad as some reviews make out? I've got the choice of partnering the graphics card with either my current Fortissimo II sound card or my DigiTV card. Nebula have released software to allow streaming the TV multiplex over the network, which is why I have the option. I'd rather keep the DigiTV in the Shuttle though.

Maybe an external USB sound card is an option? I only have a 4.1 setup, Create FPS1600's I think (quite old now).

I wouldn't think with your speaker setups the sound will be much of an issue, your speakers will negate a lot of the sound quality that a better soundcard could produce anyway.

I ordered a Soundblaster Audigy 2 NX external USB jobby. Arrived today, and I have to say, it's well worth 80 notes. It is flippin fantastic!

The sound quality is nothing short of amazing, even compared to my previous Fortissimo II. Very happy with this solution

Really?! I upgraded from my nforce onboard 5.1 audio to a well regarded Phlips audio card and couldn't tell any difference! I must be deaf or something

The big thing about those external sound boxes is that the entire analog side of the circuit it outside the PC case. I switched to digital speakers some time back (an old Creative Labs 2.1 set) and the noise difference compared to using the analog line out from PC was amazing... there simply wasn't any. It really did make a difference.
