Am thinking of buying a new computer...

I need a new computer really, but just don't want the hassle of setting it up myself (few years ago i used to enjoy putting the bits together, making it work as fast as i could - now i just want something that works), so i'm thinking of getting a dell/hp/etc. But are there actually any good options out there?

I just need as much memory as possible (so about 3/4gbs, as im on xp 32bit), and ability to add as many hard drives as possible (idealy would like space for at 3 or 4, hopefully higher). Are there any deals worth getting?

You can get a quad core dell desktop with 4gb of RAM for about £1000.

There should be room for a good few hard drives but I'd still build it myself if I had the choice that way you get exactly what you want.

You don't have to build to overclock , you can just build for stability and reliablilty.

That said if you want it to just work and be fixed next day if it breaks..dell is the way to go.

Just give them a call and see what they will offer you, that way you can haggle for the best deal

    i thought 32 bit o/s could only detect/utilise about 3gigs not even.

what's your budget like and would you be overclocking it and what you going tobe using it for?

32 bit windows can address 4gb of ram...but some of that addressing goes to the components in your system. So depending what hardware you've got windows will be able to use 3.2 to 3.6 gb of a 4gb total memory. Ive got 4gb of ram and windows can use 3.25 of it.
