Antec 900 Gamers Case - Flaws/Pros?
Hiya, folks, hope everyone had a good extended weekend.
I got around to building a new system yesterday, for a family member, their choice was the the Antec 900 case, good choice I thought.
That is until I started installing everything to do with the case/motherboard and their headers.
1)First case I've come across that doesnt have any built-in case speakers for system BIOS beeps, etc
Little concerned as how is it to indicate problems other than just fail altogether, forgive my exaggeration, touch wood.
2)With it being designed as the ultimate gamers case, you would have though it would have been designed to be a bit larger.
Others, forgotten them already, the finished product looks too good!
Anyway, the case is version 1.1, is it mine/family members or do all the 900 versions have no system case speakers as there was no headers for them to be installed on the motherboard.
All comments appreciated, especially the note on the Antec's built in speaker and whether your's has it or not!
Thanks.
:stupid:

Mine has no speaker for beeps, not sure what version mine is though.

Its the lights that annoy me. The computer is in my bedroom so i want to switch them off if i need it on all night!
Re: Antec 900 Gamers Case - Flaws/Pros?
I was dubious about it awell.
I dunno why as this case is totally fantastic.
Quiet
Looks good
Dust not a problem (suprisingly)

Biggest flaw I noticed was the ability for something to fall through the top 200mm fan grill into your system (spilled drink, screws, bits and pieces of whatever)
Kinda scary to know that something can fall down into your computer unless it's under a desk
Re: Antec 900 Gamers Case - Flaws/Pros?
Pros:
big enough for most rigs
cheap (without being too cheap)
chilly as an eskimos nads
no heat spots
comes with ties to keep wiring tied down along the motherboard's edge
positioning of the power/reset usb/headphone headers are very convenient for under desk setups.
variable fan speeds
pre-cut window side panel is a nice touch
Cons:
the mammoth 200mm fan on top doesn't have sufficient shielding
major dust magnet
some may not take to the aesthetics
fan lights is too bright for sleeping while on, it would be nice if fanlights were controlled by another wire, at least all wired into an external switch
would have been nice to use all that room on the right side of the case for cable routing (the ATX+12V cable was a particular pain in the nuts to route/fit properly)

Are you the only one?!
I have big dust problems...
i agree with the other two points though :)
Re: Antec 900 Gamers Case - Flaws/Pros?
No real dust probs for me, no more so than any other cases I've used, although you'd think it'd be otherwise........
Only prob for me is that the fp audio connector cables arent long enough to be routed tidily round the case, but other than that it's all good.

I have had mine set up now for around 5-6 weeks and as soon as i saw this thread i thought i would check the dust situation.
I took the side off and found none. Less in fact than my old case (Antec Server Tower).
The reasons i can think of for not being dusty i think are:
1). I make sure i hoover out my PC room every other day.
2). I reckon any dust that come in through the front fans, doesnt have time to settle and gets suck out of the 200mm top fan.
3). The airflow all around the case is so good i think that nearly all the dust gets sucked through before it can settle.
