A bit over, but for £440 you can get a C2D Acer Aspire 5633WLMi. Comes with 1Gb 667Mhz RAM and a 160Gb SATA HDD. The C2D is a T5500 667Mhz FSB and it's very well built.

    Re: New laptop

Im looking for a laptop around the lower end of the OPs price range, and have been looking at referbed thinkpads on ebay.
    - Dont know what lot think of that, but for around the £300 you seam on the surface to be geting a fair bit of kit?
    - With a desktop where im fairly willing to wing it (this pc was £200 from tiggerai and has done me four year so far) but with a laptop im more worried about warrentee, etc. Last laptop died of a failed motherboard at 2weeks, and thats not somting you can do much about really.

Im wanting it mainly to use on our boat and on holidays etc, something thats fairly portable, but equally usable and not too 'small' feeling.
    - Power isnt much of an issue, as it will basical just be used for surfing the web, but a few hours battery life would be nice.

    As an example.

Alternativly i might go for the real bottom end, £50 and a knock of replacment battery...?

Comet do a nice Acer laptop for £300 - 1.8ghz, 512mb, Vista, 80gb, 15.4" widescreen TFT (Glass style), DVDRW, Wifi, etc. A friends got one - I'be be happier buying new for a laptop rather than ebay.
