X-fi extreme music Dllml.exe slowing down XP.
Just thought I would ask in this thread as it might get lost in a previous thread..if anyone else has had trouble with this file creative kindly bundled with its drivers. (dllml.exe)
My games were running very slowly and I finally worked out it was this file what was the culprit. I deleted all mention of it in the registry, disabled the process and startup too.
Games are working full speed now..fingers crossed.
Anyone else have trouble with it?

I read your other thread, and am also interested to know if other people have had the same experience?
Re: X-fi extreme music Dllml.exe slowing down XP.
Hi again Zak33..
I googled and found a thread regarding something akin to this on the official creative forums. I'd be interested to hear if any other Hexus members are experiencing the same difficulties too.

Re: X-fi extreme music Dllml.exe slowing down XP.
My X-Fi Extreme Music worked great in Windows XP with the original bundled software which is more than can be said with Vista 64. I didnt notice it slowing my computer down and the pc i had then was quite poor!
Re: X-fi extreme music Dllml.exe slowing down XP.
Specifically it was my 8800 GTS 640mb that was slowing down I think.
Re: X-fi extreme music Dllml.exe slowing down XP.
Nop works fine for me DLLML.exe is only using 36,692k of ram and BF2142 runs smoothly as per my other games.
Might be an idea to uninstall the drivers/software, restart and reinstall this, its what Ive used and theres no problem for me so must be worth a go.
Re: X-fi extreme music Dllml.exe slowing down XP.
Oddly enough, I've found one entry of DLLML.exe in my registry, but no sign of it on my HD. I do not recall any performance issue when playing games with my Elite Pro though. Are there certain types of games that react that way, or did all games perform poorly?
Re: X-fi extreme music Dllml.exe slowing down XP.
Hi TooNice...well just as an example Oblivion was running near slideshow fps in the market district around 10fps at times...removed all DLLML mentions in XP and now it's running smooth as silk. Other games too, and 3dmark05 went up a 1000 marks too. Odd.
Re: X-fi extreme music Dllml.exe slowing down XP.
I had this problem when I installed my X-Fi drivers the first time. It seemed DLLML.exe was being loaded twice, one of the processes was ok, the other was tying up half the computer. I find if you kill the process in task manager, it'll come back (but it won't tie up your PC) if you open up the x-fi control panel. It seemed to be fixed when I reformatted my PC for Vista (had the problem in XP, formatted, went to Vista, came back to XP, no more dllml.exe problem), never had the problem since.
As a side thought, does your motherboard have integrated sound? If so, is this disabled? It's a pretty common issue that integrated sound conflicts with the X-Fi, Creative's advice on this is to disable it before using the X-Fi.
Re: X-fi extreme music Dllml.exe slowing down XP.
Hi mildlyamused..yep mobo sound is disabled...as you say the dllml.exe tied up my OS too. All is okay since though after my removing efforts thank goodness. Good to hear i wasn't on my own!
