mup.sys - windows does not startup

    I bought myself an update.

Got a 6750 dual core cpu with an p5k WS motherboard.
This motherboard has an ICH9 raid controller.

On my old system I used 2 pairs of disks in Raid [one set in Raid 0 and the other in Raid 1].
In my new system I only wanna use one pair in Raid 0.

When I install windows on this new Raid 0 set then it installs windows, it reboots.. installs futher. But then if it reboots again I get the windows logo, and that is it. I have downloaded the newst drivers etc... but it does not help.

I have tried to install windows on a single hd [non raid] and this works perfect.

After updating my bios I tried to install the raid 0 set again, but again windows hangs at 1 reboot after install..

If I run in save mode I only come to mup.sys

I have replaced the memory, gfx card and psu.

    What can it be?

Reinstall windows over the current install, or restore it to a previous time.

I had this problem when I installed Alcohol 120 or something like that - one of those virtual CD programs. It had a certain driver installed - which caused all these problems. So get into safe and remove everything associated with those programs (if you have one).

Your first post makes it sound like you're re-using HDD that were setup as a RAID array in a previous system. To be on the safe side, break the array in your old machine and then format each drive on it's own before trying to make it into a new array.

Re: mup.sys - windows does not startup

Think it worked out as you said.

    What did I do:
    - disconnected all other hd's
    - in windows on another system formated the hd's
    - downloaded other drivers [but I do not think this was the problem]

And now it runs like a tierelier as we call it in Dutch

    Thnx for the tip m8!
