    Re: PC spec help

There are problems with the Asus Slient Square Pro, See here

There have been reported problems with the xfx 8800ultra XXX as well, (gah I cannot find the thread now, but basically it was having problems at xfx's overclocked speeds, when reset to stock ultra speeds worked fine)

    Haveing a look at XPmicro
    CPU cooler
    THERMALTAKE Big VX Typhoon $65
Thermalright Ultra-90 $58 (you need to get a 92mm or 120mm fan to go with it, while not quite as good as the Ultra120 does beat many larger coolers in reviews)

    Graphics card
Not sure what it's like but it's factory overclocked and cheaper than the xfx
    MSI GF 8800Ultra PCI-E Overclocked 768MB 384-bit DDR3, 660/2300MHz $937

PS that's a really nasty website to find things on

    Re: PC spec help

Lol after seeing that im considering dishing out an extra $300 minus the cost of my planned asus cooler and getting a Thermaltake Bigwater 745 water cooling system and a THERMALTAKE Aquabay M5.... this way if I get a defective model atleast its only coolant spraying on my system (lol j/k) but I am considering getting water cooling... had some time to think it over and I'm pretty sure it would fit in my rig.

The problem with the XFX ULTRA xxx should be interesting I might try and find out what I can.. but if it is a recurring problem in a majority of them I'm surprised it wouldn't be easier to find, if it is a select few chances of getting one are slim and I'm guessing wouldn't be too hard to return for a new one given the issue and price (not something I particularly want to go through, but I imagine out of every x number of cards made not everyone would be 100% perfectly the same (I have heard of a few people getting them out of the box at 685mhz rather than 675)...

    Re: PC spec help

I second most of what Nick said:

The 8800 Ultra is a huge waste of cash as it only performs *slightly* better than the GTX - take a look at TH's VGA Chart.

Change the CPU cooler to one of the previously recommended, it'll make a big difference on a quad-core.

Drop the RAM cooling - it'll do nothing except make noise.

I'd go out and see the 28" Viewsonic in action before purchasing, it could be fine but I think you might be disappointed.

Drop the X-Fi Fatal1ty FPS and go with the Xtreme Gamer card, the only difference is the X-RAM which has no use at all.
