    Q6600 Case and cooling options

Right ive decided on the spec for my q6600 pc, but now im missing the case :/ im very comfortable with air cooling but i do understand that watercooling is probably a better idea, problem is ive never built a watercooling system before, sounds like alot of trouble XD yes i am planning to overclock but probably not past 3.2 which is more than enough i think, im looking to order either from aria.co.uk or scan.co.uk so if u could sugest any of the cases and watercooling bits from either one that would be awesome thanks in advance

    my setup will be

    Intel Core 2 Quad-Core Q6600 G0
    Scythe Ninja (or watercooling)
    2GB (2x1GB) CorsairTwinX XMS2 Pro, DDR2 PC2-6400
    22" Cibox SC-C2201
    400 Gb Western Digital WD4000AAKS Caviar SE16
    Asus DRW-1814BLT
    Asus P5K Premium/WiFi-AP
768Mb BFG Technology 8800 Ultra OC (yes i know ultra is a waste but i have the extra pounds to waste just wanna be totaly future proof at the maximum res that monitor can handle...at least for a year lol)
    Antec P182
    520W Corsair HX

i just have a few questions, will the psu handle the card and the 3.2 overclock? and should i get an abit or gigabyte motherboard instead? also...will the ninja fit in that case? i hope the case isnt too hot, seems to be fine and its sound proof but im a bit worried

i would say p182 for air cooling and the silverstone TJ07 for watercooling (has quite a bit of space)

Re: Q6600 Case and cooling options

Both good choices for basic water cooling i'd say but Air Cooling is perfect for the new G0 stepping quad cares (sager are even selling them in laptops now )

Scythe Ninja is a great cooler for the job you should be able to get the 3.2 quite easily

I'd go for the P182 if you're air cooling it's a great case.

Re: Q6600 Case and cooling options

I think the PSU would be ok but maybe go for the 620w instead.

THe Ninja is perfect for that case.. the main power cable for the motherboard fits behind the motherboard btw..just hadn't figured it out when I took that picture lol

Re: Q6600 Case and cooling options

i would buy the 620w but scan are out of stock :/ any other good modular psu's from scan? and also what would be the difference between http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=585723 and http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=427440 besides the fancy lights and 61 pounds when overclocking

Re: Q6600 Case and cooling options

Any or these would do you, 620W Enermax Liberty Modular Series SLi - ELT620AWT aPFC ATX2.2 2xPCI-E 12cm Quiet Fan or 600W Tagan TG-600-U35XL Easycon XL Modular, SLi, PCI-Ex6, SATA, Molex, EPS 12V, 80% eff. or 600w Seasonic M12-600 SLi Modular PSU 2xPCI-E 4xSATA 120mm Fan ATX1.3/2.01

The memory is the same in performance just the other has some LED`s and a bigger price tag.

Wish I could convince you to hang fire on that Ultra for just a few more weeks. The G92 silicon is coming on stream and nVidia have already said the 9800 series will debut in November. If you can resist the urge to splurge you could land yourself a second generation uber-card and lengthen your e-Penis considerably. You can bet your life such well-endowment won't come cheap.
Apparently, "Do whatever you like" should NOT be considered authorisation to build my uber rig!

Re: Q6600 Case and cooling options

Yeah they do, i just didint think the fat power cable would fit inbetween the mobo tray and the outer panel when i first did the build but it does..you'll see how to do it once it's in front of you

    It fits perfectly.
