    USB to SATA

    I want to be able to plug in SATA PC drives, and notebook drives in to my Mac to check things which are on them.

    So this means I need a USB solution... Help!

    I used one of these for trouble shooting stuff. Not really suitable for a permanent solution though.


    If you're looking for something more permanent this would probably be better

    And you have to fart about dismantling it whenever you wanna quickly check a drive or swap it

    That's exactly what I bought It came neatly in a little box but I can't get it to all cram back in So it just sits in a pile on top of the box *cries*

    Do macs have standard 5.25 bays?

    If so, what about a Scythe Kama Panel? Its got an internal SATA connector on the outside, as well as a lod of other stuff.

    you can't do 100% USB powered for 3.5" drives

    USB offers up to 500mA on 5V

    a 3.5" drive will typically need 1200mA during reads

    a 2.5" drive will typically need 500mA during reads

    the only way to do a 3.5" drive would be to use 3 USB sockets, to pull sufficient power
