    My PC Just died!

I built a new rig on thursday and now its not turning on. Last night i installed windows, installed few games and few softwares, put a setting in power settings to go to standby in 5 hours. I then in the morning got it off standby and used it for a few minutes, turned it off and left it for about 10-12 hours. Tried to turn it on now but doesnt turn on.

    The spec...

    q6600
    asus p5ke
    corsair 2gb ram
    corsair 520 psu
    8800gts

    I have....

    -Reset the bios
-Disconnected everything (HDD, case fans) except CPU, 1 Ram stick and Gfx card.
-left the psu off for a while

Since ive done everything ive been told i would have to RMA the parts. Except i have no idea which parts are causing the problem. It could be the case's power button or the motherboard or the RAM or cpu, i dont know. RMA'ing everything will give me a nice big shipping bill and if some of them arent faulty then another big return shipping bill.

    What to do?

Try each individual thing, if you want to eliminate the switch, what i used to do was just connect the two pins on the board witha screwdriver as it relicates a switch.

Try moving the ram slots. re seating the ram, checking no plugs have come loose..

What exactly happens when you press the on switch? Do you get fans spinning up? Any beeps? Completely dead? Any LEDs on on the P5K?

Try removing one of the sticks of RAM, and if that doesnt work, put it back, and remove the other and see if that works.

The motherboard LED comes on. I press the power button and nothing, not a single movement of anything. No beeps (maybe because of the antec 900) Ive tried moving ram into different slots, using only 1 ram etc...

I was gonna suggest checking the fuse in the plug but read your reply above that the LEDs flash on briefly, so that rules out the fuse.

    12v power lead in properly?

Could be a short, but often, the board will power up a bit and then shut down. To test for shorts, you need to remove the board from the case and set it up on a piece of cardboard. While you have the board out, make sure that all the standoffs in the case are screwed in properly.

Good that it's working now. But yes, sometimes the PSU has enough to turn the lights on but not power up the PC. Don't ask me what was wrong with it, it was a long time ago and a cheap old PSU - it was easier just to replace!
