    Creative ALchemy performance

    hello,

Has anyone here tried this Windows Vista EAX-Enabling excuse for Microsoft to be able to wiggle out of another tight embarrassing situation that was all but not expected of them?

Do the effects sound as good as in XP? What about performance hits? Does the CPU have to process any information for the software to convert the audio 'on the fly?'

    Thanks!!!

Whilst we're on the topic, does the X-Fi Elite Pro support OpenAL?

ALchemy uses EAX in ALchemy supported games as XP does using DirectSound - it sounds the same.

Bioshock doesn't use ALchemy but with EAX enabled it sounds blistering - every echo goes off into the distance especially the twang of metal!

So far the only EAX enabled game I've loaded up on my Vista build with a X-Fi Extreme Music card and using the Alchemy software is Medevial Total War 2 and that seems to work fine with it.
