How on earth do I do this? I have a PC and a laptop working with XP pro, and they are both working fine on a network, infrastructure style. However, when I try putting my new vista PC onto the network, all I can do is actually connect to the router, nothing else. I therefore only get internet access, no other 'networking stuff'.
What should I be doing?

what do you mean by other stuff?
Do you want to access the other computers shared drives/printers from the Vista PC?
file/print sharing etc.. im guessing.
Ours at work was setup so the the wireless router was simply a bridge onto a normal cabled network..not sure if that will work for you.
Otherwise you could try the "setup wireless network" stuff in windows?
