Unhappy I/O Panel allignment Help needed please

I have been triying to install my new asus blitz into my case antec solo. Although there is a limited amout of space this does not prvent me from installiing the mobo.

The problem is I can't get the damn thing to line up with the panel. The pins on the I/O panel don't seem to be alligned right.

Could someone please point me in the right direction thanks.

Take out the I/O shield and get a small pair of pliers and snap off all the stray bits of metal and try again, should work this time.

Damn I always kept those irritating bits of metal on. Just as you think you have the board alligned, it slides a bit off

What if you have to return the motherboard though?

Not really, they're only there to keep the I/O plate retained against the case, but they usually sit snugly without the 'pins'.

Re: I/O Panel allignment Help needed please

I feel your pain...I just recently had a similar problem installing a Biostar TF560 A2+ motherboard in my Asus case. The little metal pins were a pain, they seemed to make it more difficult, rather than less difficult, to get the thing aligned and stuck there in the right place. The pins on the back panel were pushing things out of line and backwards whenever I tried to push the I/O ports through the back panel holes. Not just that but the pins seemed to be getting in the way of the holes and obscuring the ports, stopping them from coming through properly.

First time round, I thought I had put the I/O ports through the back panel holes OK, and had put all the screws into the motherboard, although somewhat erratically, as I have lost most of my original motherboard screws and kept finding screws that didn't fit. But to my annoyance, just when I had put all the screws I could find in, I noticed that one of the back ports was totally squint against the I/O panel at the back of the case, even though the rest of them looked straight. It had a couple of pins bent backwards in front of it. Anyway, so I had to snap off all the pins, take out the motherboard and put it back in again. Keep checking that those ports are straight when you try to put the thing together again. And don't worry too much about those annoying pin things. I can't see that they do much good.

I decided to fold those metal bits down i.e. bent them backwards away from the I/O cutouts on the back plate

Will try after work today. I also would suggest testing panel against mobo whilst it is out of the case. That way you can sort of see where the obstructions are before damaging your mobo fingers crossed all that taking the mobo in and out of the case does not damage it

The metal bits serve no purpose, other than to cut your fingers and short out on things.
