    cd drive packed up?

    heylo all,

i have a samsung 48x48x24x16 combo cdr/dvd drive thingy, and its just decided to give up on me.. i have two drives, a dvd drive and the samsung one, and had a cd in each and was listening to some music yesterday, but today the samsung says there is no cd there, when there blatently is, (and swapping cds makes no difference).. the drive was working fine yesterday, so why the heck isnt it working now? could it just die like that? overnight? i dont even think i've rebooted the system since yesterday so i dont understand why its died

any ideas? and seeing as i bought it from OCS (oh how useful of me), if it does turn out to be duff, what is the likelyhood of RMAing it back to samsung?

anyone got any ideas? or managed to RMA anything with samsung.. i looked on their site, and the bit about getting support gave a rather useful 404 error... i need to go dig out my invoice from OCS (think i still have it) to see if there is actually any chance of an RMA... the only thing i noticed that i thought was odd, was that its not set to any particular region (ie region2 for uk), and when i try to do it it tells me to put a region2 medium in the drive and make sure i have administrative rights, well i fulfilled both those criteria and still gives me an error.. stupid piece of crap ...
