    My Q6600 Overclocked to max!?!?!

    Q6600 on stock

I wanna stress this cpu to test stability, could someone tell me the way to do it. Im aware of programs like Orthos and Prime95, but how do i set them up to test all 4 cores properly?

Also what about this. Does it mean that overclocking does finish the life of the cpu?

If it stops reporting a rounding error, one of the following is happening:

    1. Your CPU and/or northbridge is over heating
    2. Your CPU and/or northbridge needs more voltage
    3. Your RAM cannot handle the speed (more volt needed or lesser timings)

I dont think i touched the CPU voltage, its set on auto.

I get this from prime95. I dont think my pc can handle it , its going upto 65C when doing these test, thats a bit too high right?.

So does this really finish the life of a CPU, overclocking?

Re: My Q6600 Overclocked to max!?!?!

Thats probably because you are using the stock cooler. They arent designed for it, not on a quad core CPU anyway.

Re: My Q6600 Overclocked to max!?!?!

Well, you can probably push the heat a little harder but not much more really......AUTO vcore acts differently on different motherboard....I personally never use auto unless I am leaving the CPU at stock settings.

The stock heatsink/fan is quite poor compared to even a cheap after-market jobbie like the arctic freezer.

I have the arctic freezer though i put the stock on to have something to compare to, so i guess it time to put that in. Can someone answer my question on the lifespan on the cpu when being highly overclocked?!!
