    Cooling Advice

    Hi,

I recently replaced my motherboard coz it died on me (ASrock 945G dvi: inot posting) and the stock Intel cooler. Current system specs:

CPU: Intel Pentium D 805 (stock speed)
    HSF: Scythe Ninja Rev B
    MB: Asus P5B
    Ram: 2x 512MB Corsair VS PC2-5300 + 2x 1GB Corsair XMS2 PC2-5300
    GPU: Sapphire X1600 Pro
    PSU: Xclio 480W
    Sound: Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer
    Case: CM Centurion 5
HDD: 1x Samsung HD160JJ sata, 1x Seagate ST380020A IDE (Round cable used)
    Dvd: Phillips 1640P

Had a bit of trouble fitting the Ninja (gosh this thing is proper huge), applied the thermal paste that came with it. My CPU temps seem to fluctuate between 48 C and 60 C which worries me a little coz I thought the Ninja would tame this baby. the motherboard temp is normally around 34 C - 37 C Having the stock fans on the Centurion 5 case, I thought the airflow would be ok considering that I tried my very best to use zip-ties.

How may I reduce the temps???

Are you useing a fan on the ninja?
The Pentium D is not a cool chip and passive might not be enough.

I am using the fan that came with the Ninja. Would I notice a significant change in CPU temp if I use a different thermal paste?

I seem to remember that the ninja uses push pins
Check the push pins, some times they look like there in but are not locked, more than likly it's not quite makeing good contact.

    Re: Cooling Advice

yeah, I'll check whether all pins are in properly (so much force is required to get em in, sometimes I feel like I might snap the board in half). Neway I have decided to purchase AS5 and see if that helps, I'll make sure the pins go in perfectly.
