    PC turns on by itself

Im running vista 64 and love the feature which puts the PC into hibernate mode instead of shutting it down, it looks shut down in all respects but by pressing a key on the keyoard it wakes up in a few seconds. The problem im having is after a few hours, randomly, it will just turn itself back on. Iv tried moving the mouse & keyboard well out of their range when i shut it down but the PC still wakes itself up every now, as a result im having 2 turn it off at the mains every time i turn it off.

    Anyone experienced this?

Thats new. The only thing i can think of is your mouse is being moved, try leaving mouse out of you machine see if it still does it.

Re: PC turns on by itself

Havnt tried unplugging it yet, but i did move it out of its range(same with the keyboard) and it didnt seem 2 do much, PC still came on. Bit of a pain, i liked the idea of waking up and being able 2 turn my PC on without getting out of bed & putting a film/music on.

    (yes, im a student )

Try to check in the BIOS if you have wake up on LAN enabled by accident.
(PS: when I was a kid I had this recurring nightmare of seeing my CPC6128 turning itself on, then being unable to turn it off. I'd pull the plug and it would come back to life.... NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! :-D)

I've seen faulty PCI slots cause that before. If your motherboard has more than 1 PCI slot and a card in it, move the card to another slot.
