    HD 2900XT Problems?

    Hello,

I'm very confused and need to know if there is anything wrong with my HIS HD 2900XT.

Basicly, I've installed it nicely in my new Intel Bad Axe 2 Motherboard and it seems to run fine, I've updated to 7.8 ATI Drivers. I have a 600w PSU with 2x 6 Pin PCI-E fitted into it, as I've read it should be running at normal speeds (740Mhz Core and 1650Mhz Memory). I've used ATI Tool and ATI Control Center to confirm that my speeds are (510Mhz Core and 510Mhz Memory) what the heck is wrong?!

    Please help me,

    Thank you,

    Koravin...

    Re: HD 2900XT Problems?

In previous ATI cards, the clock speeds are lower in 2D mode.

The faster ones are only activated when in 3D requiring more power and generating more heat as a result.

Also memory speed will be the base frequency not the DDR rate.

    Re: HD 2900XT Problems?

Nothing is wrong its normal as toolsong said. Its just showing you the throttled 2D speed. When the 3D is activated tehy ramp up to the 740/1650. Its done to keep the power and heat output down when its not needed.
