I'm planning to build a new rig for £400 - 500. Only a base unit is needed.
Uses of the rig would be:
General Work (MS Word, Excel)
Gaming
24/7 up time
Tech has moved advanced so much that i don't even know where i should start! At least my main machine is still keeping up apart from the 6800GT which is showing its age these days!

Can you be a bit more specific with what bits you actually need? Can you use cd/dvd drives, hard drives, case, maybe psu etc from your old machine or will this need to be a complete base unit build?

arctic cooling freezer 7 pro £15 (scan)
asus p5k £75 (microdirect)
that's all i got so far.
It's a complete base unit i will be building, sorry i wasn't being too clear.

Nope, as i won't be managing the system, i'm not going to risk it run in to any problems while i'm not there.
Sorry should have asked this before, what size display is it going with and what operating system do you plan on using?
