Pretty sure it's non-conductive, so you should be fine.

    Cheers,

Re: HELP ! TIM spillage :(

Let it dry naturally - it is an alcohol based liquid, non corrosive, non conductive and quite volatile. You are more likely to do damage with the hot air from the hairdrier! The fact that it is a liquid is irrelevant - it is that nature of the liquid that causes the problems! (Yiou could wash your mobo with de-ionised water quite safely - in fact electronics mfrs do - and provided it is properly dried it won't cause damage. Now hot sugary coffee is another matter altogether!)

As long as it wasn't pluged in at the time, you should be fine.

Even then leave for a bit to dry off.

It's non-conductive, but you'll still want to dry off the mess before you boot up again. Take your time.

Actually it's an acid base liquid, but it'll still dry off with a bit of rubbing and mild heat.

Re: HELP ! TIM spillage :(

right well it dosnt look like the spillage had ever happened! however i still have to install everything else, the gfx card and sound card where in at the time of the spillage but i think they where lucky.

its still going to take me about another 30-40 minutes to build so i should be fine. in fact i may even go and get a shower and then come back to it.

i have left my lamp on above it to help dry it out

Re: HELP ! TIM spillage :(

I spilled de-ionised water all over my PC once when I was installing some watercooling. I mopped it up and left it to dry for about 48 hours and it was fine!

Re: HELP ! TIM spillage :(

Im not quite sure why everyone thinks that the liquid being conductive makes a difference, in this situation - It probably wouldnt
Non-conductive solutions are for when there is a possibility that it comes into contact with a electrical current. Although the capacitors on the board could supply this I suppose if they got wet, or any components with residual charge.

The majority of components on a board are actually water proof. In fact, a huge number of electronics are. Contrary to popular belief, its not the actual liquid that kills things in the majority of cases, but the short circuits which happen which will kill things quickly.

If it was powered off you have a very good chance that it will be fine.

Re: HELP ! TIM spillage :(

Agent is absolutely correct. Even pure water isn't conductive, it's only the impurities like minerals and ionisation that gives it some conductivity.

Re: HELP ! TIM spillage :(

    What header is it on?
    Is it the CPU fan?

Some boards will turn fans on at a certain temp. Check your BIOS
